How to compile fortran90 with Makefile on window10.

Fortran projects sometimes have a mixture of code from different sources. Some of it is written in Fortran 77, some using more recent standards. Some code may need to be preprocessed (e.g. files with extension .F90) and some may not. Our Makefile can be modified easily to deal with the variety.

Using and Porting GNU Fortran. 8.6.7 Including Source Text. Additional source text may be included in the processing of the source file via the INCLUDE directive: INCLUDE filename. The source text to be included is identified by filename, which is a literal GNU Fortran character constant.The meaning and interpretation of filename depends on the implementation, but typically is a filename.

Traditionally, UNIX compilers write executable output to the default file called a.out.It can be awkward to have each compilation write to the same file.

A makefile is the set of instructions that you use to tell makepp how to build your program. Makepp can accept most makefiles written for the standard unix make, but if you're starting from scratch, it is often much simpler to use some of makepp's advanced features.

Using make and writing Makefiles make is a Unix tool to simplify building program executables from many modules. make reads in rules (specified as a list of target entries) from a user created Makefile. make will only re-build things that need to be re-built (object or executables that depend on files that have been modified since the last time.

The first line of makefile indicates that making pattern depends on pattern.o, computepts.o, and startupcore.o. The next line and its continuations give the command for making pattern from the relocatable.o files and libraries. Each entry in makefile is a rule expressing a target object's dependencies and the commands needed to make that object.
